2014/15 YEAR END UPDATE

The 2014/15 season was a momentous year for Exeter University Golf Club. Four national titles were captured and the Club regained our No.1 UK ranking with a haul of 202 BUCS points, some 16 more than any other university had ever achieved previously.

The 1st team kept an unbeaten home record in the Premier League South and were unfortunate to be knocked out of the Championship at the quarterfinal stage in a 5-4 defeat away to Birmingham.

The 2nd team led from the front with a 100% record in term 1 and only lost one match on their way to the Western 1A title for the 4th year in succession. The team then went all the way in the BUCS Trophy, beating Stirling 2nd team 6-3 in the final at Notts Golf Club.

The Western 2A League was always going to be competitive as it featured Exeter’s 3rd, 4th and, for the first time, a 5th team. The 3rd team went one better than the 2nd team in having an unbeaten year, winning ten matches out of ten. A fine run in the BUCS Conference Cup saw them beat Bournemouth 4-2 victory in the Final.

This newsletter also features details of our tenth anniversary Alumni Golf Day. This hugely successful annual event provides invaluable support for the student golf programme and we couldn’t achieve what we do without the support of our graduates so, on behalf of the Golf Club, thank you.
